This 1984 VW Vanagon Westfalia camper was posted on both craigslist and The Samba yesterday for a cool $6,900 in Brentwood, CA. The seller cleaned it up quite nice for the pictures, and if it runs strong and has minimal rust, could be a great project van or longer term investment. It’s hard to find a good running rust free Westy for under $10k, let alone $7k. It comes with nice 15in wheels, newer tires, newer brakes and a newer clutch. If all of the appliances work and the motor stays cool in city driving, this is likely a bargain with only 145k miles on the odometer. Westy on a budget! If it hasn’t already had the old plastic cooling lines and hoses replaces, I’d consider doing that first. Also, getting a compression test on the engine would be a good idea before purchasing, if possible. In the end, this is one of the better looking Westys I’ve seen for this price in a long time. Judging by the house in the background of the pictures, they likely don’t need the money all that bad, and probably had the money to keep in running good, and maybe even garaged.
Yeah, that was likely a steal, hope it works out well for the new owner.
aaaand it’s gone.
