1984 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper – $10,500 in Boulder, CO

Updated 1/22/15 – The seller responded and also provided the VIN (WV2ZB0251EH0774614 ) along with some details from the title history report, so I’m revising this post and adding some of the email to me with their permission. The craigslist posting for this Westy can be found here

Almost all of the detail records are either “Passed Emissions Inspection”, “Vehicle Purchase Recorded”, “Title or Registration Issued or renewed”. There are only two entries that show mileage. In 2002 is was shown as 105,000 and in 2005 it was shown as 109,000. There are no other references to mileage. I thought the 109,000 might be close to correct because the interior shown almost no wear. There are no stains, reps or discoloration on any of the seats or beds or rugs. It almost looks like it just came out of the showroom. My pre-purchase inspection showed no rust on the undercarriage. There are a few small surface rust spots on the body and a normal amount of small indentations and creases on the body. As to our story, we owned a VW camper years ago, probably in the 70’s and had fond memories of camping with our young children. I am now 72 and my wife is in her late 60’s and we through we would like to re-invent the past but after a few camping trips to Estes Park and South Dakota, we realize we were not as young as we thought we were and that we probably would not get as much us out of it as we thought. Therefore we decided to sell the Van and just try to break even and pass it one to someone who would get more enjoyment out of it. I have all the invoices for work that I had done and much that was done before me. I have had a pre-purchase inspection done last week and have a list of items that need attention in the future. I will take those into consideration on the sale price. CraigsList Link
