Round 2! 1990 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper Auction in Los Angeles

1990 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper Auction in Los Angeles - $18k

1990 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper Auction in Los Angeles – $18k

Relisted again on eBay is this 1990 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper in original orly blue with 229k miles on the body, 50k miles on a rebuilt engine, manual transmission and everything is said to be working. This is another one of those instances where the seller doesn’t do a good job at “selling” their vehicle, and the post is almost comes off as “I spent a bunch of money, it works, it’s great, don’t waste my time”.  It’s just not an enticing sell.  Be articulate, get creative, take more / better pictures, you’re expecting to get close to 20 grand for it, not chump change. The VIN is provided (WV2ZB0257LH027343), but they’ve run out of their free Auto Check reports at eBay, so you’ll have to find another means to do your homework, like CarFax.  At any rate, I think this has been up for sale more than once since I posted about it back in June, when it was on eBay with the same buy it now price of $17,900.  Last time around the top bid was only $9,100.  Any guesses on what it will be this time around?  The current auction ends on Sunday January 25th at 1:19pm PST. (original post here) (current eBay auction here).

All things considered, it does look like a decent late model Westy, though I’d make sure that whoever did the engine rebuild was qualified and offered some type of warranty, even if it has expired already.  The description states “it has two scratched in the body” though the pictures clearly show many, many imperfections and scratches in the paint.

Now that this site has been around for a while, it’s cool to see when Westy get relisted, especially now that I’ve been doing my best to keep track of VINs.  Want to see if a van has been listed on here before? Just enter the VIN int the search box to the right.
