Rare! 1984 VW Vanagon Westfalia 5 Speed – $10,500 in Oceanside, CA
Here’s another one of these rare 5 speed Westys that showed up for sale in So Cal just about an hour ago. This van is a 1984 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with stock 1.9L engine and 5 speed manual transmission. The only place I know of that offers legit 5 speed transmission for the Vanagon is GoWesty(link), and they run about $3X a normal transmission. I know there are other VW or German made transmission that might bolt up with some tinkering, however it would be nice to know what the gearing ratios are and how fast it goes at 3k RPM(55mph in the photo?). This van has 230k miles, all interior LED lights, custom black out curtains, newer model front seats with armrests, window tint, power inverter, new Nokian tires and might even come with that Yakima rack set up and cargo box. The seller states all kitchen equipment works flawlessly. If the engine is solid this could be a good deal, especially considering the region.
