NICE! 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper – Subaru 2.5L – Auction in Texas ends April 8th

Updated 3/8/16. Up for auction on eBay from the same seller as last year.

Here’s a fresh find in the great state of Texas that sure to get some attention in the coming days. This nice looking and well sorted rig is a 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with a Subaru 2.5L engine, manual transmission, 185k miles and according to registration records has spent most of it’s life in California and Texas.  The last mileage recording on the free Auto Check report shows 119,217 in 2008.  If you’d like to dig a bit deeper on your own, the seller provided the VIN ( WV2ZB0258HH089857 ) so you can get your own Car Fax report or similar.  The engine swap was done with the Rocky Mountain Westy kit, though the seller doesn’t state when it was done, though it was down under their ownership, along with a cosmetic paint/rust touch up (looks rust free).  Some other fancy shmancy additions include; Go Westy steel plate bumpers, new window and door seals (good rubber is key!), Shady Boy Awning, Yakima towers (4) and cross bars (2) and basket (always check for cracks in the pop top near the rack mounts) and a solar & aux power set up is negotiable upon auction completion.  Altogether this Westy sites sits nicely on GoWesty 1.5″ lift springs, 15″ Mercedes wheels with fresh BFG AT tires.  Check it out in Missouri City, Texas with the auction ending Wednesday, April 8th at 9:21am PST, with the current high bid just clearing $10k. eBay Link

All details considered accurate, etc, I think this will likely fetch $21k – $24k. Keep in mind California buyers are out of the picture, since it’s the 2.5L and wasn’t done with the Kennedy kit.  I see this likely being purchase by someone in Colorado, so we’ll see 🙂  What do you think it’s worth?  Any thoughts or wisdom to share?
