Brown 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Wolfsburg Weekender in MN – Needs Body Work & Clutch – No Reserve Auction Ends March 30th

Yesterday this impounded and abandoned 1985 Wolfsburg Weekender Westfalia went up on the eBay auction block in Prior Lake, Minnesota. It’s a 10 day auction and ends March 30th at 7pm PST.  While no guarantees of accuracy, the odometer reads 116k, better check up on that VIN history.  The pictures show a fair amount of seam rust and a torn up interior, overall it just looks unkept, but could have lots of potential for the right buyer. If you or someone you know was handy with body work, this van could clean up pretty nice. The seller says it starts and runs, but that the clutch doesn’t work so great.  I noticed there are no pictures of the pop top tent either, so you might as well plan on replacing that as well. The best part about this auction is that it has no reserve.  Any guesses on what it will sell for? Swoop it up for $2k, put $10k into and, and you’ve have a pretty stellar ride, or flip it on the west coast for $15k.

  1. After 69 bids from 22 bidders, this van sold for $4,001, to a bidder that only had one bid throughout the entire process. At $4k this could be a gamble, but if you’ve got the resources and the know how to restore it, you might come away with a nice van, or $5k in your pocket. Does anyone want to claim being the winner here? Would love to hear what you’re going to do with it.
