1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper – $9,900 in Hilo, Hawaii
I don’t come across too many Westys for sale in Hawaii, however they do exist, there was once even a rental fleet for sale. The seller recently moved form California to Hawaii and decided they needed 4wd after only 3 months. This van is a 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with stock 1.9L engine, stock automatic transmission, 163k miles, original brown UPS color paint and appears to be rust free and clean throughout. It’s sporting the GoWesty 15″ or 16″ wheels with some fresh Michelin Hyrdoedge tires and has recently seen a new starter, new 02 sensor, coolant sensor and belts. It’s got some Yakima wide body rack tabs on the pop top, but the seller mentions the actual rack may be no more? Check for cracks around these tabs to ensure they were installed properly. They didn’t provide the VIN, or many other details, so I’m going to reach out and see if they’ll elaborate. I guess Hawaii is probably a small market, and it’s not like someone’s going to pay to have it shipped to California. Might be a cool deal if you were looking to roam around the big island for a while, as I guess it’s somewhat accepted to just roam around in your van in many places, though I’ve personally never been. Guy raised the price to 11,900. Must have been tipped off as to being to low. The only thing is, not many want these over here and they usually go for much less than on the mainland. His may be worth it, but reality is there are a lot of steep grades here and a 1.9l automatic isn’t really the best power plant setup. We will see.

Thats what this website does, it makes people charge more for their vans because they now think they are worth gold.
I have attempted to contact this owner, multiple times. The ad is still up, but no reply. If you want to sell, maybe you should at least reply to attempts to view.
Still on craigslist, not a lot of interest here on the Big I , for some reason. Might have something to do with Bud selling his business, Happy Campers, he has some decent rigs. We will see. Maybe back to 9 ?
