1983 VW Vanagon Westfalia – $8,500 in Oakland
This looks like it could be a nice van at a decent price, but unfortunately the seller didn’t provide many details in their craigslist ad. “Very clean, well maintained and smooth running 83 Westfalia. Manual transmission and clean title”. There are some pictures, with one of the odometer reading 149k miles. It looks to have minimal rust, however there are seat covers (what’s underneath?) and no pictures of the pop top tent.
UPDATED: I received a reply from the seller with the following comments. “Wow thank you so much that’s very kind of you! It’s actually my teacher, Master Wang (pronounced Wong) that is selling and I am just handling the Craigslist part since he doesn’t really deal with the internet outside an occasional email from clients or other students. If you like you could maybe mention that it was bought with the intention of being turned into a mobile tea house by a Buddhist Tea Foundation (us) and the plan was to bring it to Farmers Markets in the area but it turned out we needed a truck instead since to convert into what we needed for the mobile tea house exceeded our current budget for this project. Thank you so much for your help though Mike, we appreciate your support, we’ll have to have tea sometime! “
