Wow, here’s a nice looking deal to start off your hump day. Fresh on craiglsist about an hour ago is this 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with 166k miles, automatic transmission, likely stock 2.1L engine, and some minor seam rust and bubbling. The seller says they purchased it from an elderly man recently, then proceeding to go ‘completely’ (wide brush here) though the van replacing brakes (?), master cylinder and tires. According to the listing it’s available in Yacht Club Estates, which is a neighborhood of docks and piers in the St. Petersburg Florida area. It will likely be gone quick with a $6,500 asking price. If this is a running, driving, no leaking, clean title 2.1L Westy camper, $6,500 is about half the price you’d expect to pay on the west coast, if not less. It appears to be all original and unmolested with original faded paint.

That seems like sensible pricing, for sure. you know I’ll never agree an 85-89 Westy that’s not near mint is worth over 10k. Especially being late 80’s.. Could even be considered a good deal. Competive with the 5 grand 85 Westy in similar shape with 30k less miles I missed out on. Why people need to hold their Horses!
This Westy is St Petersburg sold in less than one hour on Craigslist. If the buyer reads this and would like to flip it please email me. Thanks.
Hey Jeff,
I am in Clearwater and thinking of putting my 87 Vanagon Westfalia up for sale. I am asking $7500. The good: runs great, nice interior. The not so great: seam rust, odometer stopped about 1,000 miles ago.
Please email if you are still in the market for a camper.
Thanks,
Jafar
Is this camper still for sale? I am definitely interested if it is. I owned 3 in the past and want another one.
I’m in the market for it, what were the miles on it when it stopped, and would you deliver it if I bought it?
