Clean 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper – $11k in Los Angeles
Here’s a Westy very similar to my own up for grabs in the Los Angeles area as of yesterday. I spotted this one on the L.A. craigslist this morning and judging by the details and pictures, it’s not a bad asking price. This van is a 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with stock 1.9L engine (rebuilt w/ 60k on it), stock 4 speed manual transmission, 217k miles on the body, roof racks, new stereo and speakers, nice awning, new shoes and all kitchen appliances supposedly work. Cosmetically it looks pretty good inside and out, sans a few scratches here and there. It does look to have a bit of rear end sag which is very common in these, so it might need shocks and springs in the not so distant future. The rack mounts were also placed in a, well, unoptimal location for popping the roof with gear on it, as they are quite forward. If it doesn’t leak and has good compression, and drives well, this would likely be a great deal if you could get into it for $10k or so. Craigslist Link
