Here’s a nice desert dweller that appeared on craigslist about an hour ago in Tuscon, Arizona. This van is a 1983.5 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with 131k miles, stock 1.9L engine (first year of water cooled), stock automatic transmission. It appears to be mostly stock, with the exception of some GoWesty 15″ wheels which come with some brand new Michelin tires. There’s no word on whether or not the propane tank, stove, fridge, sink, etc work, or how well. Overall, this looks like a very clean, rust free well kept early model Vanagon Westfalia. The original tent canvas looks great, the exterior and interior are close to showroom condition, the dashboard looks flawless (especially considering this thing has been living in sun country). Find on craigslist in Tuscon, Arizona with an asking price of $12,495. Craigslist Link
Notes For Potential Buyers: Find out if/how well the kitchen appliances work. Check for rust on the undercarriage. Ask if the gas tank has ever been resealed, or if the fuel lines have been replaced. Check the front suspension bushings, ask when they were last replaced. The desert is great for rust, but not for rubber. Check window seals, door seals, etc for cracking.
Notes For The Seller: Great pictures, but no VIN, title report or service history. This is an amazing looking Westy. A video of the engine starting, running, the van driving, and the kitchen appliances working.
