1990 Vanagon Syncro High Top Adventure Wagon – $22k in Palo Alto, CA

This one has been starting to make the rounds and I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet, thought it was a worth post for this morning.  Available in Palo Alto, California and listed on The Samba (link) is this original family owned 1990 VW Vanagon Syncro Adventure Wagon High Top with only 85k miles.  It was brought from Arizona where it has lived likely most of it's life, though the seller didn't provide the VIN so we could do a check up.  The original white paint looks to be in good conditions, and overall the appearance shows the van to be well cared for.   The Adventure Wagons come stock with a handful of options not available in a stock Vanagon Westfalia, two of them being gray water storage and a propane heater. While I've never owned an Adventure Wagon, I do like the high top idea, especially for city camping with more than 2 people, as you can sleep 4 without having to "pop up" anything.

The seller does state it has some quirks, but nothing mechanical, though the engine is original, so be prepared to do at least a head gasket job in the near future, or before taking it on a cross country mission.  Other features include 3 batteries, new propane tank, working A/C, portable toilet, hardwood floors and some other odds and ends.  If I had some extra cash I would consider selling my Westy to upgrade to this, especially for the reasonable asking price of only $22k.  The Samba Link

1989 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper w/ 50k Original Miles – $22k in Denver, CO

Happy Monday Westy lovers!  Today's first post showed up on craigslist late last night and will be sure to turn some heads today. This van is a 1989 VW Vanagon Westfalia camper with stock 2.1L engine, stock manual transmission and only 50,000 original miles! It's got an alarm, back up camera, upgraded stereo, rear hitch and a fresh coat of red paint.  While $22k is a lot to spend on something that's basically all original and stock, you'll be hard pressed to find a late model Westy with only 50k miles on it.  Be sure to get the VIN from the seller and do a title check to make sure there's no funny business.  I wish some sellers would get a clue when selling a rig like this. If it really only has 50k miles on it, and you're asking expecting more than $20k. Spend the $50 to get a CarFax or similar report showing the full owner history and odometer stamps.  Go check it out in Denver, Colorado. Craigslist LinkRead More About This Westy

1986 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper w/ 35k Miles – $22k in Florence, OR

Happy Friday Westy Fans!  Here's a rare find on the Oregon coast that popped up on craigslist last night.  This rig is a 1986 VW Vanagon Westfalia camper with stock 2.1L engine, stock manual transmission and only 35k original miles (as reported by the seller).  They seller did provide the VIN if you've like to do a title check up (VIN WV2ZB0255GH008831). They state the vehicle was originally from Texas at that "compression on all 4 cylinders is 165-175 psi".  My only concern is that is appears to the rocker panel above the propane tank has already been replaced.  Possibly not, but it sure looks off colored in the pictures. If everything works and I'm wrong about the rocker panel, this van will likely sell at their asking price of $22k, or at least $20k.  Find it for sale in Florence, Oregon. 1991 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper – AT – 179k Miles – $22k in Torrance, CA

Posted on The Samba classifieds yesterday by a seller in Torrance, CA is this 1991 Orly Blue VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with Automatic Transmission and 179k miles with an asking price of $22k.  This van has seen quite a few upgrades in recent years including a windows out paint job with new seals, amc heads, stainless steel performance exhaust,  k & n air filter, new Brembo front brakes,  Bilstein shocks and 15 inch Go Westy alloy wheels,  Michelin tires, led instrument lighting, a/c recharge, front heater valve, heater fan resistor, cooling fan relay, 3 window tent and lots of garage time. This actually looks like a pretty good deal for a 1991 Westy in So Cal with all of these extras and upgrades.  I can't tell from the description or pictures if this has power locks, power window or power mirrors. I'm more a fan of the manual stuff because it is less likely to fail, however the power stuff is convenient. The Samba Link
