Here’s what appears to be a nice Westy for sale in the Bay Area at a relatively reasonable price. This 1984 VW Vanagon Westfalia camper popped up for sale on the The Samba yesterday with an asking price of only $7,000. This van features; stock 1.9L engine, manual transmission, 185k miles (original?), recovered font seats, new front door panels, new propane tank, fridge has been converted to storage, stove and sink work great, upgraded headlight kit, extra battery and other odds and ends. The seller states the transmission has a small leak and that the fluid needs to be refilled ever now and again. (My Westy has this issue as well and only needs topped off every 6 months / 5k miles or so.) I’m not trying to stereotype or generalize, but when you see a Westy for sale from someone that can afford to live in a house in the Bay Area, they’ve likely had the money to take care of the van too. The listing also states this van has seen regular summer service from VW specialist Rolf at City Automotive.
