1990 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper – Auction in Seattle, WA

I’m finally going to post about this 1990 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper a friend of mine was looking at recently.  Not that they’re not going to buy it, I figured it was free game now, although any Westy hunter active in the past week has likely seen it. The  eBay Auction ends June 16th, but it’s also posted in in at least four other locations including the  Seattle Craigslist VW TDIs The Penny Saver and Lemon Free.

From the pictures provided, and the story I’ve heard, is that it’s got some seam rust, but I’m not sure if it’s the original paint.  If it is the original paint, then the rust is likely very manageable. If it is an additional coat, who knows what’s underneath.

Their current asking price is $15,999, and if this van is legit, that’s a super good price for a 1990 Westy with only 140k miles.  The clean title van comes with complete service records, new wheel bearings, oil change, a full tune-up and nice wide awning as well. Scroll down in the eBay listing to see over 60 detailed photos in the gallery. As of the time of this post, there are 19 bids, with the high bid at $13,100 with a full four days to go.

  1. I heard from a friend they are getting the seam rust taken care of, trying to clean it up some. Not sure how it will turn out. I’d make sure it is the original paint, otherwise you never know what is underneath.

  2. I live in Seattle and two days ago drove over to Green Car Co to see this van. I had called first and was assured the van was there, but when I got there I was told the van was at a detailer, but they didn’t know which detailer! Seriously. I called again this morning to see it and was told the van had been sold (but it is still listed on eBay tonight). curious…
