This one has been starting to make the rounds and I’m surprised it hasn’t sold yet, thought it was a worth post for this morning. Available in Palo Alto, California and listed on The Samba (link) is this original family owned 1990 VW Vanagon Syncro Adventure Wagon High Top with only 85k miles. It was brought from Arizona where it has lived likely most of it’s life, though the seller didn’t provide the VIN so we could do a check up. The original white paint looks to be in good conditions, and overall the appearance shows the van to be well cared for. The Adventure Wagons come stock with a handful of options not available in a stock Vanagon Westfalia, two of them being gray water storage and a propane heater. While I’ve never owned an Adventure Wagon, I do like the high top idea, especially for city camping with more than 2 people, as you can sleep 4 without having to “pop up” anything.
The seller does state it has some quirks, but nothing mechanical, though the engine is original, so be prepared to do at least a head gasket job in the near future, or before taking it on a cross country mission. Other features include 3 batteries, new propane tank, working A/C, portable toilet, hardwood floors and some other odds and ends. If I had some extra cash I would consider selling my Westy to upgrade to this, especially for the reasonable asking price of only $22k. The Samba Link
