Updated 6/9/15: See comments below post.

Happy Monday Westy hunters.  Happy to live in the upper midwest?  Fesh on craigslist a couple hours ago is this 1989 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper in white with 115k original miles, stock original 2.1L engine and stock automatic transmission.  According to the details the van has recently received new tires, exhaust, brake lines, brakes, water lines, radiator, tune up, alternator and starter. There’s no pictures of the tent canvas which is said to need replacing.  The dash and upholstery look great, thought some of the interior trim and exterior seals look to be in need of renewal.Available in Saginaw, Michigan with an asking price of $10k. (craigslist link)

The seller didn’t provide the VIN (later I found it in this eBay listing,  WV2ZB0259KH022983  ), which of course is always nice to check up on mileage, title history, states of registration, smog records and all kinds of other info.  I’m going to reach out to them and see if they’ll hook us up here.   Have any thoughts to share?  Know the history of this van? Gone to see it?  Share away in the comments below or head on over to the discussion about this Westy on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Google+.

I flew from Colorado to Michigan to buy this van. When I go there I found the van in BAD shape. There is much more rust than in the pictures. The seam below the hookups, the rear hatch, and the muffler brackets are rusted out. The skylight is trashed and probably leaking. The tires are not the right load range. When I took it out for a spin it overheated and blew a hose. Don’t believe what the seller is saying, he tried to convince me it was a temp sensor! I know a lot more about air-cooled VWs, but I’d put money on a blown headgasket.

This westfalia came back up on eBay last night and my girlfriend paid the deposit on it. If you have anymore info on this bus I would appreciate it. I don’t have much confidents in it after heading your post. chucktaylor7777@yahoo.com (my e-mail)

    • Thanks Ethan! Sorry you had to waste your time going to see this one, at least you didn’t buy it sight unseen!
