1987 VW Westfalia Synrco w/ Subaru EJ25 conversion – $35k in Portlandia

There don’t seem to be many ‘middle ground’ syncros for sale these days. You either find a beater rusty half working one for $10k-$15k, or you find a fully kitted Go Westy or Subagon Syncro for $50k+.  This Syncro went up for sale on the Samba the other day for $35k in Portland, OR. Unfortunately for us California folks, it has the 2.5L (EJ25) Subaru motor, which I don’t think we can (easily) register in California. However for folks that don’t need to register their vehicles in California, this seems like a great deal for $35k.  The get the unknowns out of the way, the seller doesn’t detail the mileage and owner/title history. The rest of the package seems pretty legit and includes a new tent, a propex heater, Go Westy bumpers, South African grill w/ high powered headlights, new drive line, new CV joints, Recarro bucket seats (jealous!) and likely a lot more.  It appears most of the work was done by Small Car Performance in Tacoma, WA. Check it out on The Samba.
