Another familiar face on the eBay auction block. Small Car Performance in Tacoma, WA has been trying to sell this 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper since March of 2014 (The Samba Link), but in my opinion it was priced a bit high, but not too high, but just a bit high, and a friend of mine made them an offer of I think $16k earlier this year, and they turned them down. Now it’s down to just $16,500, but has an auction with an unknown reserve price (eBay Link). It’s a very nice 2 owner Westy that has lived in this region since arriving in the US, Small Car does provide the VIN (wv2zb0251hh063455) and the eBay Auto Check report looks good. It’s got unknown mileage (but records should indicate ~170k) and looks really, really good. It’s got a fresh transmission w/ new clutch, new heads(top end rebuild?), new water pump, new muffler & no seam rust. It also comes with a hard to find rear facing passenger side jump seat. I’m surprised they don’t state(or tout) the working condition of the propane tank, fridge, stove and sink. If this van is absolutely flawless, I’d say this might be worth $15k in the region, though someone is likely prepared to by their current asking price of a grand more.
A Note For Potential Buyers: They’re likely not going to go below the $16k mark. Make sure the kitchen, propane and hookups all work. If you have the extra coin to spare, they’re offering 10% off all upgrades.
A Note For The Seller : One of these days when I hit the jackpot I’m going to see if you’ll put a Subaru Boxer Diesel in my 1985 Westy 🙂
