Feast your eyes on this clean and well sorted 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with stock 2.1L engine with stock 4 speed manual transmission and 200k miles up for auction in Bellevue, Washington. The current high bid is $15k, but the reserve has not been met. I’m thinking they want at least $17k.
This rig originally was sold new Florida, then moved to California in 1994, found itself in Hawaii between 2007 and 2014, then made it’s way back to the mainland for this auction. The free Car Fax report (VIN WV2ZB0252HH084234 )shows the odometer read 104k miles in March of 2009, and in only 6 years racked up 90k miles in Hawaii. That’s a lot of driving. Maybe someone was living in it? Either way, this Westy appears to have been professionally maintained and detailed and has over 60 photos available.
- no visible seam rust
- clean all the way through
- minty cockpit
There’s no fridge, and the propane tank was removed and the stove now runs on green cans are likely in working order. Over the past few years it has service records to show the following upgrades; outer cv boots, front and rear brakes, muffler, tie rod ends, wheels bearings, clutch, water pump, master and slave cylinder.
This is a prime example of how to detail, clean and document a Westy for sale. Clean as a whistle (look at the picture of underneath the bench seat), provided CarFax report, 60 professional photos… While the TDI motors folks do spam craigslist with too many keywords, they do know how to present their vehicles well.

I had hired the car for an airport and I get that in time.
After 48 bids from 10 bidders, this sold for $19,900!

The owner was having some shipped to Tacoma. Beautiful van either way!
