Here’s what appears to be another mythically priced Westy in Colorado like this one from the other day.  This well below book priced specimen is a 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with only 135k miles for $6,500 in Denver, Colorado. Craigslist Link

The specs on the ad state “manual”, and I’m guessing it likely comes with the stock 2.1L engine. The plate number is shown, so if you wanted to try and look up the vehicle history that way I believe that is possible.  It’s got some dents, possible some seam rust brewing, some custom patches windows on the pop top and is missing the lower plastic grill vent. Other than that, the silver paint shows well and for the most part the van looks to be in great condition inside and out. I’m going to email the seller and see what they say here.

Would you buy this van at this price sight unseen if the pictures and seller were legit?  Share you wisdom in the comments below, or head on over to the individual discussions about this Westy on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Google+.

  2. I was the first person to look at this van. Seller told me he just got rid of it a few hours ago. It was worth the money for someone who wanted to put some time and cash into a solid 1987. I estimated $1000 in parts and some serious cleaning would have made this a sweet ride. Interior was used hard and fairly stained. One big dent behind slider, the rest of the body was amazingly rust free. I passed due to overheating and electrical issues which were just too hard to diagnose on the spot. I’m just going to keep plugging away at my aircooled 82.
