Happy Friday Westy Hunters! Here’s a nice looking freshly painted Westy up for grabs in the Bay Area, an eBay auction that ends on Sunday. This rig is a 1987 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with stock 2.1L engine and stock 4 speed manual transmission both rebuilt in the last three years. It is said to be 100% rust free, and the seller can provide pictures from before it was painted as well. Aside from a fresh coat of paint, it’s also received new springs, new shocks, new coolant system, new steering rack, new tie rod ends, new windshield, new rear hatch struts, new 3 window tent canvas, new fiberglass bumpers, GoWesty floor mats, aftermarket stereo & speakers, new GoWesty RV Hookups, along with some authentic BusLab & AA Transaxle stickers.
While the 128k miles on the odometer could be accurate, the free eBay Auto Check report shows a roll back between 2005 and 2008, from 115k miles back to 99k miles. I’d be sure to get the details on this, and since it’s on its 5th owner, they may not even been aware. It’d be a good idea to double check with a Car Fax report. The seller did provide the VIN ( WV2ZB0251HH023747 ), making a history checkup an easy task.
For those hoping for a fridge, this one has been converted to storage, though the seller says they still have the original Dometic one if you’d like to refurbish it. The propane tank, stove and sink are all said to be in working order, though the tank has not been recently refilled. The A/C system is there, but currently inoperable. Sometimes they just need a recharge, sometimes they need a full overhaul.
The current high bid sits at $14,900, with 7 bidders stepping up to battle it out. The auction ends on Sunday at 7:05pm PST, and if there is a reserve price, it’s already cleared the hurdle. I’m thinking this will go for near $20k, due to the condition, region and season. What do you think it will sell for?
