1987 VW Vanagon Syncro Westfalia – 2.2L Subaru – $25k in AZ

Here’s a hot post of the The Samba classifieds that is likely to get some eyeballs.  This van is a 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro Westfalia  with rear locker, decoupler, Subaru 2.2L power plant, manual transmission and 203k miles on the body.  It started as a tin top, and it sounds like the current owner did most of the work themsleves, including the pop top conversion, differential work, and maybe even the engine. The downsides? Seam rust and something about being “totaled”, though no pictures of said seam rust or showcase of title history, let alone a VIN. It’s got some other features like a newer tent canvas, big bumpers a swing arm tire carrier for the rear, which supposedly damaged the rear hatch.  All in all, $25k for a Subaru 2.2L Syncro with rear locker and decoupler isn’t a high price, though if there’s massive seam rust, no upstairs bed, or other lurking issues, then well maybe not so much. 1. I owned this van from 2012-2014 and did the tin-top conversion, swing-away tire carrier build, bumper build, and decoupler. God, I miss that thing!
