1987 VW Vanagon Syncro 113k Miles – All Records – Auction in Los Angeles

Lots of eyeballs on this 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro for up for auction in Sun City, CA.  After 34 bids from a dozen suiters the current high bid is at $16,900, with the auction ending Monday Sept 28th at 10:00am PST. There’s a ton to like about this rig. The low miles, the decoupler, the fact it’s likely been a desert vehicle all it’s life. There’s always a few things to question, but overall this could be a good candidate for a long term investment.

While it’s not the original color, that green does show very well. I’d be sure to ask the seller for before and after pics, especially if they state they have all the records.  t does appear to have factory A/C and according to the seller the A/C system had a bit of an overhaul recently with a new condenser, drier, & hoses.

The auto check score is a sky high 70, but having only two owners in the same region, this can happen. It’s a good sign, but do your homework. The VIN is WV2YB0252HG058895.

It sits on some nice 15″ wheels and off road tires, along with heavy duty off-road coil springs & Old Man Emu shocks. It likely stops much better than stock with the upgraded Audi based front “Big Brake” kit – larger diameter vented disk rotors.  It also comes with the versatile, 4WD front de-coupler kit – 4wD On, or 4Wd Off.  Great for gas mileage and longevity of the drive shaft and front differential. The interior is gorgeous and the dashboard is better than most vanagons from the mid 80s.

While not a Westfalia, if you’re looking for more room, this would be a great candidate for a high top.  Maybe a NAHT?

I’m not sure if 10am on a Monday is this is the best time to end an auction, but often sellers don’t think of these kinds of things. Share you thoughts in the comments below or head over to this post on Facebook to read the rabble of other fans, enthusiasts an the occasional grumpy cat.
