1986 Westfalia For Sale – $4,000
A few weeks ago I purchased this westy and now it’s now time to sell my 1986 Westy. I live in apartment and only have street parking, so I don’t have room for two westys. Here is the full craigslist post with all of the details. I’m honestly bummed to be selling this, as it rips and I still use it for my daily driver and local surfing missions. Cosmetically it’s kinda rough, but mechanically it shreds pretty hard. Here are the basics. Last 70k miles have been on a salvage title due to vandalism. I’ve had it since May of 2011 and it has never left me stranded. Sometime in the last 100k miles it’s had most of the mechanical things replaced/rebuilt including the engine and transmission(manual). While there are no service records for most of this, you can tell by the way it runs and sounds. I have about $1000 worth of receipts for some control arm bushings, ball joints and sensors I’ve replaced since May when I purchased it. We even took it on a 600 mile trip to San Francisco in the fall and had no issues. The odometer is accurate and working, currently at 217,000 miles. Starts every time and idles well.
