1986 VW Vanagon Westfalia Weekdner – $6,500 in SF Bay Area

Here’s what looks like a great deal in the San Francisco Bay Area that popped up on craigslist yesterday.  This van is a 1986 VW Vanagon Westfalia Weekender Wolfsburg with likely stock 2.1L engine, stock manual transmission and unknown mileage.  The seller states it is a daily driver, has been recently smogged and has a small oil leak.  There’s no pictures of the pop top canvas, and interior does look like it’s been on some great adventures.  Keep in mind this is likely not a beginner Westy unless you’ve got the time/money or know a good VW mechanic, however, if you’ve got a nice place to keep it and plans to restore it, it could be a good find if the title is clean, frame is straight and there’s minimal rust. All in all it’s definitely a little rough around the edges, but with an asking price of only $6,500, it will be gone today or tomorrow.  Finding a running pop top Westy in the Bay Area for under $7k is a steal.  Craigslist link
