Here’s an interesting find that popped up on my radar this morning in the east bay. The eBay listing(link) says Berkeley $15,000 is quite a bit for a basic 2wd 1986 Westy camper with 300k miles, however in it’s defense, it appears to be very clean and has a 100k on a factory motor from a donor van (not rebuilt) with reportedly good compression. One of my main hesitations here wouldn’t necessarily be the odometer, but the fact this van has power locks, which was the first year they were offered, and they fail quite a bit. On the plus side all of the window seals and pop top seals have been replaced recently, there’s a new battery, new tires, upgraded 16in wheels, new AC ducts (cold AC!) and a few more bells and whistles. There’s an almost identical van on craigslist(link) in Oakland for the same price. I almost thought they were the same van at first.
