Here’s a nice looking find in the San Diego area. This van is a 1986 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with 127k miles, stock 2.1L engine, stock 4 speed rebuilt transmission and full Go Westy service from 2004 (about 25k miles ago). There’s even a record of this sale($20k) on the Go Westy site here. The pictures show a clean and mostly original and untampered with Westy camper that has been detailed up nicely. There’s no mention of whether or not the propane, sink, stove, fridge work, and there’s no photos of the undercarriage or tent canvas either. I’m going to take a guess and say that everything works and the tent canvas is in good shape, but you never know until you see ’em. $15k is a steep price for a stock 1986 Westy, but if you can find a clean low mileage, legit, no leaking one in So Cal, it will likely have this price tag or higher. White with the nice dark tint looks so good on these… The VIN isn’t in the craigslist ad, but it is in the older ad on GoWesty. WV2ZB0251GH092386 so you can run it on CarFax. Find it for sale in Escondido, CA. Craigslist Link New to the Westy hunt? Check out a handy short list of buying tips over here.
I looked at this Westy last Nov. and I remember it being a bit rough and some rust showing through. I believe it was kept near the ocean by Monterey, Ca.
correction…
