This 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro 4WD Westfalia camper is up for auction in Yucaipa, California.
The white van with tan cloth interior has been around the block! It reportedly originally came from Germany and has listed Carfax history in Iowa, Vermont, New Jersey, North Carolina and Ohio before settling with its current owner in California in 2014.
The four-speed manual transaxle and Syncro all-wheel-drive Westy is powered by a water-cooled 2.1-liter flat-four installed in 2019. While the odometer reads 6,000 miles, the seller reports they have added 10,000 miles to unknown total milage.
The VW Vanogon had exterior work including rust repair, new seals and a paint job in 2014, but some rust is bubbling up at panel seams and below the windshield. Utility hookups, GoWesty bumpers, roof rack, swing-away spare-tire carrier, and retractable awning are some of the add-on features.
The rear bench seat folds down for a bed, with a loft bed in the pop-top tent. A tear in the tent is reported.
The cabin features Westfalia cabinets with a stove. The sink faucet and refrigerator were removed.

I have always wanted one of these, ever since I can remember. Next year I turn 65 and want to travel across Canada in one of these with my service dog. I imagine they are a wee bit out of my pay range.
