Aside from some seam rust and the need for a new automatic transmission, here’s a decent looking 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Wolfsburg Camper with an asking price of $8,300 in Santa Monica, CA. From the sound of it, the current owner is either flipping it, or hasn’t had it long enough to figure out how some of the knick knacks work (fog lights, extra backup light, amp, weather meter). If you’re into Westy’s with automatic transmissions, you might be able to low ball this seller for like $5k, then pay a good VW shop to replace the transmission, fix the air flow meter and give it a nice tune up. The seller states it has 182k miles on the odometer, but no guarantee that it is accurate. It’s got a nice lift on it with some fresh looking shoes, and the seam rust doesn’t look too bad (yet), an afternoon of sanding and some POR15 could clean up that seam rust too.
