Here’s what appears to be a well sorted Subaru swap with low miles and a regionally relevant and reasonable asking price. This rig is a 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with 228k miles on the body, 12k miles on a Bus Lab rebuilt 2.2L Subaru engine and a AA Transaxle rebuilt transmission with a taller 4th gear. At the time of the conversion it also received a new coolant system with stainless steel pipes. As a super bonus it also is said to have Koni Adjustable shocks on the front and rear, along with big brake kit on the font, and upgraded disc brakes in the rear. It sits nicely on those 16″ wheels from Van Cafe. Find it for sale in Santa Rosa, CA with an asking price of $25k. The Samba Link – Craigslist Link
I’d estimate the current owner probably has about $35k+ invested here (van, parts, hours, etc), and finding a nice fresh Subaru Westy with these kinds of upgrades for under $30k in California is worthy of mentioning. I’m not really into the giant Subaru decal on the front window, though it will get some some additional conversations from strangers and Westy fanatics.

New front end bushings all around as well, and the gas tank gasket kit. (Van Cafe).
I’m sure I’ll remember more about the maintenance and kep updating it here.
Also forgot to add that it has a brand new three window canvas installed this fall.
