Here’s a sweet holiday Westy auction ending on Monday in southern California, if you haven’t seen it already. This fine looking specimen is a 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with stock 1.9L engine, stock manual transmission and a reported 141k original miles. Aside from the new tires, window tint and what appears to be rust inhibiting paint on the rocker panels, this Westy is likely all original and unmodified from spec. While there’s no title history report provided, the seller did share the VIN so you can do your own look up on Car Fax or similar. (VIN WV2ZB0250FH032078 )
Here’s a few things I love about this one.
- Excellent pictures. This seller knows what they are doing and provided dozens of high quality professional photos, including details of many of the pain points for oxidation issues.
- They obviously detailed it out very nicely. It’s super clean, every nook and cranny has been addressed and it shows nicely.
- The original tent canvas and the upstairs and in excellent shape, which is usually a sign that the van has been very well cared for and in a dry climate most of it’s life
- I have an ’85 very similar to this, and many folks swear by the 1.9L engine setup VW used in this year. While not as powerful as the 2.1L introduced in ’86, but it is supposedly less complicated and more reliable.
At the time of posting the van has 44 bids from 7 different bidders, and due to the condition and location of the Westy, we’re going to see a battle royale till the end of this no reserve auction that ends on Monday December 29th at 11:23pm PST. eBay Link
$6,100 wasn’t enough the first time around, so now it’s back on eBay with a Buy It Now of $17,500 and the auction ending on Wednesday January 14th at 8:07 am PST. New eBay Link
