1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper Auction in Lompoc, CA

Fresh on both eBay and craigslist yesterday is this 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with stock 1.9L engine, stock 4 speed manual transmission and some very good original looks. According to the free Auto Check report on eBay, the odometer read 97k miles in 1998 and 125k in 2014, could be legit, and judging by the original paint, tent canvas and interior, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is. They did of course provide the VIN ( WV2ZB0254FH033783 ) so you can do your own homework on it’s all California history.  The seller states the engine had a partial rebuild only a few thousand miles ago and has most records since sometime in the 80s.  The only feature it lacks from its original configuration is the rear overhead A/C, which is mostly a waste of space.  It’s also been listed on cragislist with an asking price of $16,500, so I’m going to take a wild guess and say they’re hoping for at least $15k.  The auction ends on Monday March 30th at 2:36pm. eBay Link

As added bonuses this Westy appears to come with a full length awning and a Thule rack set up with a cargo carrier. Always check for cracks in the pop top around the mounts for racks like this. The seller states it obviously comes with the fridge and stove, but do the work, and how well? Has the propane tank been upgraded? If this is all legit, drives well, runs well, doesn’t leak, etc, it’s likely going to fetch their hoping price of $15k, especially in a So Cal spring market.  What do you think it’s worth?
