1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper – $8,500 in Atlanta, GA
Here’s a nice looking deal that showed up on craigslist in Atlanta, Georgia about an hour ago. This rig is a 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with uknown mileage, stock 1.9L engine, stock manual transmission, no rust and a pre installed cargo carrier in place of the back bumper. This Westy appears to be the original UPS brown paint, and aside from the cargo carrier and a power strip (inverter installed?) it is mostly stock and unmolested. The seller states it doesn’t leak and runs strong. One thing that stands out to me is that the front has no visible chipping in the picture provided. I have an ’85 with only 130k miles and it’s got all kinds of rock chips up front, maybe it wore a bra for a while, or there are no pebbles in the south east? A note for potential buyers: As with most Westys this age… Get the VIN and do a title check at CarFax or similar and look for mileage issues, accidents, etc. Also find out if the gas tank has been resealed and the last time the front suspension bushings were replaced. If the engine has never been rebuilt, it will need it soon.
A note for the seller: Provide the VIN and maybe even pay for a CarFax report to share. Do you know where else this van has lived? Has the engine ever been rebuilt?
