Here’s what looks like could be a good fixer find in the Seattle area that was posted on craigslist yesterday. This van is a 1985 VW Vanagon Westfalia camper with stock 2.1L engine, stock 4 speed manual transmission and 190k miles on the chassis. The engine and transmission were rebuilt about 60k miles ago, but the seller says it needs to be towed because of the tires. I’d of course make sure it runs for 15 to 20 minutes and doesn’t get hot before making any kind of offer. It’s also reportedly had a new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new vacuum hoses and new ignition coil. The likely reason for the low price is also the amount of seam rust seen in the usual places. It doesn’t look un manageable, but you’d want to address this quickly. No mention of whether or not the kitchen appliances are working. There’s no picture of the tent, but the interior appears to be in decent shape. No VIN provided. Check it out in the Seattle, WA area with an asking price of $6k. Craigslist Link
