Here’s a nicely upgraded, resorted and well cared for Westy that went up on the eBay auction block yesterday from a hippie hater in Tennessee. In fact, here’s a direct quote from seller of this van in the listing. “I do refuse the right to sell to hippies. Not kidding…seriously do not bid if you like drum circles or jam bands. If you want to take the van to Bonnaro or some stupid music festival, l I will refuse the sale. Not kidding. Hippies abused her before and I saved her from their dope smoking ways.” Is this guy link baiting or what? Well, it worked for me, and well, it’s also a nice van. So, onto that part.
This specimen is a 1984.5 VW Vanagon Westfalia camper with a 2.0L Jetta engine (20k miles), automatic transmission(20k miles), 146k miles on the body and tons of meticulous upgrades. In fact, there’s so much detail in the eBay listing there’s really no where to start or end in this post, so you’ll just have to read the details over there. So I guess if you’re a free spirited drum circling jam band loving hemp wearing dreadie, wear some corporate camouflage if you’re going to look at this van, as you might get turned away. Sold for $18,900 with a total of 67 bids from 21 bidders. I was thinking this one would see north of $20k, so someone really got a deal here.
