Here’s a bit of a mystery find in the desert that is likely to catch some eyeballs over the next few days. I swear I’ve seen this rig for sale before, but I can’t seem to find a record of it in my notes. At any rate, this van is a 1984 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with a Subaru 2.2L engine, manual transmission and unknown miles on engine and body. It looks very well cared for and the orange paint is likely original. The seller’s description is a bit long and unorganized, but some of the highlights include; Fresh A/C overhaul fresh transmission overhaul with taller 3rd and 4th gears, fresh brake work all the way around, 2 in space lift, 16″ CLK wheels, LOVELY looking Honda Odyssey font seats, custom made South African style grill, new wood floors, back up camera, Catalina awning, solar panel kit with aux battery and… a custom motorcycle trailer. I think the main question I have being a California resident, is if the correct parts where used to make this pass a CA DMV referee / emissions test. For some reason all the extra gauges make me think whoever installed in the Subaru knew what they were doing, however I’d be sure to get the details on that. Also, be sure to get the VIN and do a title check on AutoCheck or CarFax. If it were me, I’d likely sell the trailer and use the money to buy new bumpers, a Yakima rack and pop top struts. Find it for sale in Phoenix, Arizona with an asking price of $16k. Craigslist Link
