Here’s a lower priced Westy on the East Coast that will surely get swooped up this weekend. Fresh on craigslist a couple hours ago is this 1984 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper with likely stock 1.9L engine, 4 speed manual transmission and 139k miles.

The seller states they acquired it in 2007, but can no longer use it due to medical reasons. It is said to have recently received new bushings, boots and shocks all the way around.  This specimen sits nicely on 16″ alloy wheels and decent looking Michelin Hydroedge tires.  It also received a newer 3 window tent at some point, which the seller says might need to replaced soon, however the exterior pictures look fine.  There’s no pictures of the inside of the tent or upstairs, so let’s hope it didn’t fall to mold or mildew. There’s no mention of if or how well the propane tank, stove, sink, water tank or fridge work, though the interior shows to be in good condition with a wood floor in the rear as well.

The major downside to this van is the kitchen seam rust. I’m not sure if they just patched it up with bed liner, or someone did a professional job on it.  There’s no VIN supplied, so you’ll definitely want to request it from the seller and run a CarFax or other title report, just to ensure it’s clean with no major instance and the mileage is accurate.

All being said, if this is everything it’s said to be, it’s worth at least double their asking price on the west coast, especially this time of year. Find it for sale in Fredricksburg, Virginia for and easy $6,400. Craigslist Link

Please give me information about this, i want to buy this!

  5. I think this is a honest price. Seeing no new engine and likely other parts are getting in need if replacing soon. I wouldn’t pay 7 grand it more unless it was at least an 86 model or newer with those miles. Pre 85 model should always fetch a decent amount less unless they are a crazy upgraded engine transplant unit.
