Happy Tuesday westy hunters! Notice anything new today? The site was long overdue for a face lift, so I finally got started on that yesterday. It’s far from finished, however most importantly it is now “mobile responsive”. Viewing on a phone? Tablet? The site should automatically resize itself to your device! At any rate, here’s the first post for the new site. This 1984 VW Vanagon Westfalia Camper showed up for sale on the SF Bay Area craigslist yesterday and could be a nice find for the mileage, condition and price range. With only 119k original miles, this Westy got a rebuilt/new engine in 2012 (likely stock 1.9L) and features the standard 4 speed manual transmission. According to the details, the sink, stove, fridge (and propane tank?) all work perfectly, and it sounds like it may even come with a propane heater of some type, with an added bonus of hardwood floors in the mid section. The original aussan brown paint looks to be in decent shape, as well as the pop top, canvas and seals. It sits on what appear to be the original 14″ steel wheels with some slightly larger than average tires. Only three pictures available, but the seller did provide the VIN so you can do some homework. ( wvzb025xeh015559 ) Find it for sale in Los Gatos, California with an asking price of $13,900. Craigslist Link
While some will balk at paying $14k for a mostly stock 1984 Westy, this kind of rig with a fresh engine and well cared for appearance will sell quickly at that price in the San Francisco area. What do you think it’s worth? Tell us in the comments below, or head on over to the individual posts about the Westy on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or Google+ and share you wisdom there!
Great car think it’s worth 20 k!
